Calvary Chapel Downey invites you to join us as we follow the Daily Portion Bible Reading Plan. When we read our bibles most days of the week, even for a short period of time, we open ourselves up to the opportunity of the Scripture’s transformative power in many areas of our lives.

Watch & Pray Prayer Meeting: Parents are welcome to join us for prayer as we lift the needs of our school, students, parents, and administration to our Heavenly Father. No Gum or Sunflower Seeds on Campus:  Please be reminded that gum or sunflower seeds are not allowed on campus before, during or after school.

Cellphone Reminder: JH-HS cellphones must be put away before you go through the red gate/office doors. JH Students, cellphones & airpods must be off and in your locker. HS students your cell phone & airpods must be off and in your backpack. Saturday Schools will be assigned for cellphone violations.  

Absences:  If you are absent all day or any part of the day you must come to the School Office before school begins to get a Re-admit. You will need a parent note stating why you were absent.

Tardies:  1st period tardies will be issued in the office.  If you are tardy to 1st period you must first go to the School Office to receive your tardy before going to class. In-between class tardies will be issued by your teacher.

Parking Permits: Attention student drivers!  If you are currently driving to school, you must fill out a parking permit application and submit it to the Office. Applications are available in the High School Office, on the rack adjacent to the front doors.

The ASVAB is Sat., 11/14. This is a free aptitude test to help guide and prepare you for your new journey after you graduate. To sign up or get more information, stop by the HS office.

REMINDER: Students, please be reminded that toys such as stuffed animals are not allowed on campus. Any students that have stuffed animals on campus will be issued a detention.

Scholarship Opportunities: Seniors, make sure you are regularly checking the Senior Hallway bulletin board (outside Pastor Roger’s office) for up-to-date college information including the available scholarships below:

HIU Fall Preview Day, 11/12: Interested in attending HIU? At this event you will be able to attend chapel, sit in classes, get a complimentary lunch at The Commons, and engage in a range of exciting activities. Reminder, if you do attend this event, it will be recorded as an EP - not excused by the school. See Mrs. Naaktgeboren for more details or check out College Guidance google classroom.

HIU Hope After Hours, 12/3: Interested in attending HIU, but do not want to miss school? This event is for you! This event takes place from 6-8pm and will include a complimentary dinner, information on the admissions process at HIU, breakout sessions to learn more about your program of interest (College of Business, College of Psychology and Counseling, College of Arts and Sciences), and an optional campus tour. Class of 2027 Senior Trip to Israel: it's not too late to join the class trip. We're selling chocolate, so even if you do not plan to go, make sure you support your classmates who are working hard to earn toward their trip. See Mrs. Naaktgeboren for details!
