instrumental
Music education is a great benefit to your child’s development. Scientific studies have shown positive associations between music education and increased abilities in linguistic, mathematical, and spatial reasoning in children. Those who receive keyboard instruction, for example, demonstrate significantly better performance on vocabulary and verbal sequencing than students who do not receive keyboard instruction.
Band
In HS band students are taught to perform as a stage band ensemble with traditional wind instruments and contemporary rhythm section instruments (drums, keyboards, guitar and bass). Students are also taught music theory and music history. Students play pep band, jazz, and traditional concert band music. The Grizzly Band performs at pep rallies, football games, chapels and other special school events. All HS band students are required to have at least 2 years of playing experience. All students are encouraged to use their musical talents for the Lord.
Worship Team
Our HS worship students lead worship for our weekly HS chapels. This is a 0 Period class. This class is designed for students interested in leading worship. This class is for singers and instrumentalists. Students learn how to play current, modern contemporary worship songs. Aside from playing for chapels, our HS worship band plays for other school events, and a few Wednesday night services per year. All HS worship team members are required to have at least 2 years of performance experience. All students are encouraged to use their gifts for the glory of God.
